Healthy Hair 101

Well, I went a little blonder today! I thought I would try out this whole dark root thing, and I loved it for awhile…but I’m back. I’m writing this post today because I get tons of questions on how to maintain healthy hair…now mine is not the healthiest by any means, (thats what I get for bleaching it over and over), but I do try my best to make sure that I am not having a lot of habits that are making it worse! Plus, working in a salon I hear tips after tips after tips on daily things you can do to help maintain your luscious locks!

First, do not completely restyle daily. I will wear my curls for days; only touching them up each morning. MINIMAL heat ladies! Along with this first tip, use a heat protectant!

Second, hair, skin & nail pills. I discovered these beauties from ladies at my salon, but we have tons of success stories of women, and men, who have seen amazing results in hair growth as well as nail grown and glowing skin after using them for about a month or two! It usually takes some time to notice change in growth, but you will notice after a couple weeks of use!

Third, air dry. If I have the time..I am always letting my hair air dry. Again the heat!

Fourth, my “wet brush”. I cannot even explain how much less breakage I see in my hair using my wet brush!! The bristles are thin and flexible so they don’t pull your hair harshly the way a normal hairbrush does. It’s amazing. You need one.

Fifth, weekly deep condition. My hair is thirsty thirsty so I am huge on hair masks. I’m one of those people who will leave it in for like 20+ minutes so I typically only have time to do it once a week or so, but it is life changing!!

Sixth, trim those ends. This one is probably the tip that I am the worst at maintaining. I need to take some of my own advice here!! But I have made a promise to myself that I will get better 🙂

Final, do not wash it every day. Now to some people this seems like mission impossible because their hair gets greasy after just a couple hours…and trust me girl, mine used to too! You really do have to train your hair so that it doesn’t need shampoo daily. That’s what cute hats and messy buns are for, your off days! I also, in the past month, have started using this AMAZING Kevin Murphy REPAIR.ME line, which comes with a shampoo, conditioner, and a “re.store” which is for the days my hair needs a little help, but not shampoo quite yet; it is a repairing and cleansing treatment. The “re.store” acts as a shampoo and a conditioner. All three of the products have restorative properties as well, and uses natural superfood proteins helping to reconstruct chemically damaged and brittle hair. I have been using mine for a little over a month and my hair has never felt more soft and HEALTHY! I love love love and would recommend to anyone, plus it photographs beautiful (as I did below), so theres a plus 🙂

I hope you all have a beautiful week, happy monday! xx

Love reading your blog and always look forward to your new posts! When you say "wet brush", is that just a saying or is there really such thing? I’m interested if so and would love to know what one you have 🙂
